Asian Tigers K. C. Dat will arrange all aspects of your move from Hong Kong to virtually any worldwide destination. We have been arranging door-to-door international moves since 1971. Our business is to tailor each move to our clients' needs.

 

Pre-move Survey

The pre-move survey allows our move consultant to personally meet with you to discuss your requirements. The consultant will record the various items to be packed and make note of any special instructions.

Every move is different, so be prepared to discuss your individual needs. For example:

• What to ship by sea, by air, dispose of, or donate to charity
• Your company's shipping policy, allowances etc
• Your travel plans and timing constraints
• Special services you may require
• Storage needs
• Any items you might add after the survey

Our move consultant will provide you with preliminary information about destination customs requirements, insurance, packing techniques and timing. He/She will later follow up with more detailed answers to your specific questions.

We can arrange the following services at your request:

• Normal and climate-controlled Storage
• Special handling of pianos, motorcycles, cars, safes, etc
• Customised internal crating of fragile items and antiques
• Local delivery or pick-up
• Pet handling
• Motor vehicle shipment

 

Our Quotation

Based on the information gathered during the survey, a detailed budget proposal for your move will be sent to you within a few days.

The quotation for the move will include:

• Estimated volume and weight of the shipment
• Total price for the estimated move
• Unit price (price per cubic foot, kilogram or cubic meter)
• Packing dates and days required to complete the job
• Insurance premium, if applicable
• Services included / excluded
• Extra charges for special services required
• Contact details at destination

• Reputation of the company
• Reputation of the destination delivery company
• Professionalism of the surveyor
• Unit cost, and the total estimated cost

Packing

Before the packing crew arrives, please remember to keep the items you will take on the plane with you in a place where they will not be packed by mistake.

Please also put labels on those items that will go into storage, by air, by sea or stay at the residence, so that the crew can handle accordingly. Asian Tigers K. C. Dat will supply the labels to you.

• Show the supervisor where to start, and give him a brief tour of the apartment
• Point out those items that require special care or crating
• Do not allow jewelry, expensive watches, money, coin or stamp collections to be packed. These should be hand-carried by you. Insurers won't cover these items.
• Do try to be present during packing to ensure there are no misunderstandings about what is to be packed
• If you pack any boxes yourself, please leave them open for the supervisor to check. Otherwise, he will label them as "PBO" (packed by owner) which may cause problems with customs authorities and insurance companies.

The supervisor will prepare a packing list for you, listing each package's contents and ask you to sign it upon completion of the packing. He will also go through a post-packing checklist to ensure that nothing has been forgotten.

The packing crew will load your shipment into the steamship container or wooden liftvan crates at your residence. Your goods will normally go directly to the port and onto the ship, unless otherwise specified.

Shipment

Asian Tigers K. C. Dat will arrange the air or sea shipment of your goods to the destination port of entry nearest to your new residence. We choose reputable carriers to ensure that your shipment arrives as scheduled.

Delivery

Asian Tigers K. C. Dat will provide you with the contact details of the delivery partner in your destination country and the estimated arrival date for your shipment.

Upon arrival, you should contact the delivery partner to advise your plans and to coordinate the documentation and delivery schedule.

Services at destination normally include the following:

• Import customs clearance
• Normal access delivery to your residence
• Unloading, unpacking, placing in proper rooms
• Debris removal (one time, usually on the delivery day)
